Merry Christmas!

First off, we wanted to say MERRY CHRISTMAS! We're so sad that we couldn't make it up there this year... but hopefully we will be able to soon!
In effort to stay more connected, and save money, we've decided to make this blog to keep you guys in the loop. And to act as a pseudo Christmas card for this year.
I know as our lives are ever-changing down here it’s nearly impossible to keep each other up-to-date let alone all of our family. So that’s where this handy dandy blog will come in play. Especially coming to the end of our college schooling, it’s become harder to keep everyone up-to-date on how school is going and our plans for going forward.

I’ll break this up in two parts, Tyler’s and Heather’s. We each will contribute to our own section, so you guys can get all of the information!

TYLER’S
Hi, work is going great. I just work really long hours, and lots of overtime. Before you ask, I don’t know when I am going to graduate because I have decided to go to school part-time in order to work more so I can afford to pay my bills. But my last semester went great, all B’s, which is good because they are all writing intensive. My plans are to graduate with my BA at the same time or very close to when Heather graduates with her MAT and then I am going to enlist in the Army because that is what I want to do, and they will help pay off my loans if I enlist. I plan to continue to go to college while enlisted and when I receive my graduate degrees I will eventually teach or something like that. When I first enrolled at University of South Florida, I was an Ancient History major, since then I have decided to double major in Ancient History and Interdisciplinary Classical Studies – which is a funny way of saying Ancient Greek and Roman Studies. I love school, I’m just not a super social bug, so not TOO many drunk nights (like Ryan) (; Oh and by the way, we’re pregnant… Just kidding. This semester I also got the opportunity to enroll in a class that was taught by a guest lecturer from Brown University on Ancient History which was AWESOME! I even got the okay from my mom to let Ryan skip school to bring him along. Things are going great, if you ever want to talk – message me on facebook and I’ll give you my number. I love you and miss you all. Merry Christmas!

HEATHER’S
If you haven’t already seen on Facebook, I just finished my last fall semester of college for my undergraduate degree! I did great! I got all A’s and one B! Spring semester starts January 7thand it will be my last semester as an undergraduate! I will be graduating May 4thwith my Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies! I am applying to a graduate program that would start in summer 2013 (shortly after graduation). I have already met with the advisor for this program, and she explained that they will schedule an‘interview’ with me to meet with their board and that as long as my background check goes through (which it will) she can see no reason why I would not get accepted to the program! Woo Hoo! The program is the M.A.T. or Masters of Arts in Teaching. I would be getting my Master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education, or Special Education. I would graduate with my Master’s in December 2014, and be certified to teach in 38 states, as well as ESOL certified! It is an accelerated cohort program, so it would only take 5 semesters (summer, fall, spring, summer, and fall.) For the first fall semester I am required to teach in a classroom for two full days a week, the spring semester I am required to teach five half-days a week and then the following fall I will be teaching five full days a week. It’s pretty cool, but what is even cooler, is that I can apply for an ESE assistant job in a local school and get paid while I complete my required teaching hours, plus that gives me valuable experience in a classroom with a certified teacher. I’m pretty excited to graduate and start the new program! We miss you guys, and hope you all have a great Christmas!

Our Christmas pictures that we sent out were just one of many - we picked the one that we liked best and everyone got the same picture. However, I will add a tab up top on here that has other pictures from our "Christmas photo session" for you guys!

Love you all, and Merry Christmas!
